Hi all

Having got around my disabled buttons problem I've another newbie question.

I deleted and reinstalled DNN and the database after my first 'hello world' play around.. I'm running SQL Server Express and I can't see any tables (apart from System Tables) in Management Studio. I couldn't see them in my first installation but figured I might have screwed up something. As everything is functioning, I'm thinking it's a permissions problem. I've set availability to everyone on everything, as far as I can see, but I'm obviously missing something.

I've googled around but haven't found anything to cure the problem. Any free clues will be gratefully accepted.

TIA

Regards

Ian

If you are using SQL Express for your database are you sure you're looking at the right database? DNN runs the database out of the app_Data folder when running on SQL Express, so to connect to that you would have to attach the DB in management studio.

Hi Chris

Many thanks, you got it. When I installed I followed a video tutorial I found (Youtube?) and it told me to create a DorNetNuke folder and to then use Management Studio to create a new DotNetNuke database. It was stupid of me but I never considered that it might not be right. :)

At least I can see it in VS now. It won't let me attach it in Management Studio so I'll have to fiddle for a while, but as least I can see it.

That's great, many thanks.

Cheers

Ian

If you know the HOST login for the site you can go to the Host/SQL page and run queries from there as well.
