Hi all

Back again, and on to the next bit of self-inflicted stupidity.

I'm using VS2008 and, following the manual, I do a right-click|Add New Item, but there aren't any DNN templates. I've tried the devenv fix (just in case) but that's not made any difference. Could someone please tell me what I've done with them?

Many thanks

Ian

It's hard to say, I'd recommend you check that the zip files are in the expected locations - Dan's blog at http://www.hot4dnn.com/Articles/tabid/62/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/9/DotNetNukereg-Starter-Kit-Templates.aspx covers some of this. Alternatively, you might want to consider the more recent templates that Chris recorded a video on http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/VideoLibrary/Viewer/TabId/1613/VideoId/107/Module-Development-Template-Installation.aspx

 Hi Cathal

Got it, thanks to you. I've been trying to follow tutorials and they all start with 'Open VS and select...'. I thought those things hade been installed by default, and didn't realise they were 'extras' with a Starter Kit. Duh! I hadn't seen mention of a Starter Kit anywhere yet,and didn't realise it was needed.

I tried Chris's VB template, but I'm not sure if it's possible to install on Vista Home - no IIS. I got the wonderful error message of 'The imported project "c:\Program Files\MSBuild\MSBuildCommunityTasks\MSBuild.Community.Tasks.Targets" was not found. Confirm the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that it exists on disk.' At least the message is correct as there isn't a folder MSBuildCommunity under MSBuild.

Oh well, this will give me something to get my teeth into. Maybe when I get further up the learning curve I'll get to figure out why Chris's thing barfs.

Thanks again, it's very much appreciated.

Cheers

Ian.
