Hi all

Sorry, but I have no idea what to put as the subject line for this. I'm not even sure if I'm in the right ng. But as I'm a newbie I hope I'll be forgiven if I've got it wrong. :)

I have been trying to add an ADO Entity Data Model to a completely clean (multiple times) install of DNN., This has come about because there's some functionality in a VS website I'm been playing with and want to use it in DNN. I kept getting errors when I tried to include the bits (basically a ViewForm) I wanted into a new module. I narrowed it down to the ADO Entity Data Model by having a clean install and adding just one of those linking to one of the installed tables. When I check I find that the designer.vb file has the horrible squiggly green lines under the following lines:

Imports System.Data.Objects
Imports System.Data.Objects.DataClasses
Imports System.Data.EntityClient

I just don't understand why I can add a new ADO Entity Data Model to a completely clean VS website and it builds. Add one to DNN and it barfs. I'm probably missing something in web.config, but it *looks* ok. There's a reference to System.Data and a few other things.

I'm using VS 2010 and DNN is 05.06.00.

I realise that I'm doing something dumb somewhere (not a rare event) and any advice will be gratefully received.

Cheers

Ian

You will need to add a reference to the .Net System.Data.Entity namespace.

Thanks Bill. I couldn't find anything on the web to tel me which one to include.

What I don't understand is why VS adds the reference (or I assume it does) in a stand-alone app, and not when dealing with DNN.

Anyway, I will go and do that. Many thanks.

Cheers
