I've already purchased two e-commerce/store modules in the past (SDN Store and Catalook) and overall have been quite disappointed and am now looking for a 3rd and hopefully final solution for my needs.
The product pages, menus etc are lesser concerns for me as these I could develop myself if needed to add onto the cart and administrative side which is more important.
I need something that can not only handle products, but also software, and memberships which may be recurring monthly/quarterly/annually and associated with roles. Usually taking payments with PayPal or via bank transfer too.
Some of the sites (eg. http://www.snug-bugs.co.uk/OurRange/L...) I have are with product pages, whilst others need to be able to add products direct to the cart from normal content pages (eg using a querystring in the URL - http://www.accountantscircle.co.uk/Me...).
One of the difficulties I've had also is being able to handle not only the recurring subscription fee, but also an additional joining fee. I know PayPal didn't handle this before, so I realise I may have to continue dealing with these both separately.
I only work a single currency to a Portal, since no solutions I've seen are truly multicurrency and I feel it's misleading when they say it is (as there's always 1 base currency though I currently bank in 4 different currencies).
At the moment I'm considering looking more closely at the core Store module, and at NB_Store as I've been let down enough by the commercial modules.  Neither of these seem to have a clear outline on the membership/roles and recurring payments so I'm hoping for some recommendations.  Do either of these sound suitable, or are there others that you would recommend?

I to have been looking at some of the e-commerce modules and so far have been disapointed by pretty much all of them. I am currently developing a small website for my wife to sell her craft on so my needs are different to yours, but nevertheless am having trouble getting an e-commernce module that suits my basic needs.

Am evaluating several at the moment. So far the standard DNN module has some limitations for me regarding the way it handles the checkout proceess. I want something that offers a quick checkout process where customers don't have to register to make a payment or at least customize the registration process if the need to register is a must. I don't want to start coding around these myself so have decided against it this time round.

Catalook seems quite impressive but is somewhat of a beast and looks to take a lot of work to get going. Its looks more suited a large stores and not small simple ones with only a few items hence I have crossed it of my list at this time.

Smithcart is next on my list. It seems alright so far, but don't like how a lot of the styling and properties has been done in the ASCX files. How will I go when I want to style the store to my needs. Makes more sense to change the CSS and configure some tokens (of which it does not look like it is using). Will keep working with it before I decide for sure as so far it looks promising.

Also had a very quick look at Revindex which looks simple and quick to use and so far seems to have the basic needs I need, but unitl I actually setup some dummy products or two and have a better look am not sure.

Will also look at CartViper and DNN spot as well be weeks end I hope. Am hoping to know by then which will best suit my needs. I have already decided that I will decided which e-commerce module to use for each of my projects that require an e-commerce module based on the project that I am doing and which module best suits that projects needs, as so far from what I can see all have certain strengths and shortfalls.

As I an new to DotNetNuke I also don't want to spend to much time making large changes to the modules, but would rather jut use what I already available and focus on other tasks.

Dan.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations at all?

Thanks Dan

I only saw your post and was notified of it after my last post, bit odd... but thanks for it and certainly helpful.

I do currently use Catalook but the version I have doesn't work on DNN 5+, and even has glitches still on DNN 4.9.6.  I don't need additional functionality, and some of the functionality I had been using was removed so I'm very reluctant to pay upgrade fees for nothing additional, and possibly even a step backwards to my needs.

It's also very complex as you mention, and the skinning of it has no clear documentation at all... no notes I've come across at all so left to guess.

I'm still unsure if any are much good at recurring subscription payments, and am starting to lean towards building my own cart for this as any solution might involve quite a bit of time implementing it so a custom one might be the way to go.

Thanks
