I have upgraded my website from 5.6 to 5.6.1 at weekend. Upgrade went flawlessly. Then suddenly i started to see following error.  It happens when dnn fires an ajax control i guess. e.g Restarting Application, Adding an event.. etc. I am using Alphabrisk skin and i suspect skin settings.

Would anyone help me about following error?

ttypically that indicates an exception in the ajax handler that then renders an error into the page and gives this message. This most commonly occurs when a skin is using invalid html and ajax (which relies on a good DOM) fails. To validate this try switching the skin to the default minimal extropy. Also check your eventlog just in case the error is occurring earlier.

I suspect that this may also be related to issues others are finding with various client side scripting, html source rendering, and controls which make use of AJAX when either GZip or Deflate compression is enabled in Host Settings. Try this:

1. Log in as host user and navigate to Host --> Host Settings
2. In the Advanced Settings > Performance Settings, set the Compression Settings to "No Compression" if it was previously set to GZip or Deflate
3. Click Update

Let us know if the Compression Setting was GZip or Deflate and if the change to No Compression fixed this issue. I would also be interested to know if this issue is at all browser dependent.

William,
I have this problem too: it affects all browser I tested (IE 8, FF, Chrome), and can be solved by disabling compression as you tell (it comes back both with gzip and defalte compression enabled).
Error still comes out if I change the page skin to minimal entropy.
Is there a way to fix?

I don't remember exact case number but this issue has been logged into Support Tracker by another member as well. Btw - as stated before, disabling compression solves the issue. My setting was gzip previously.

And Events module also gets affected by this issue.
