Hi all.  I'm really new at DNN; first tried it last summer, got freaked out and quit and went to play with some other ASP.NET CMS thingies, so I now have a little (really little!) bit more understanding of how things work with these ASP.NET thingies (really diff from Linux thingies, that's for sure!).  But I like DNN; the more I keep coming back to it, the more I find to enjoy about it.  I had no difficulties at all with the installation, which certainly wasn't the case when I first tried to install it last summer.  And thank you so very much for providing some actual written docs for the installation and operation; that is so rare, I applaud you!  A video is not a substitute for "RTFM," but not many seem to get that.

However, there does seem to be a small problem with remembering login info; I read about it in the docs, and I found the box to check in the config page, and it's all set;  I also checked in my Firefox cookies, and there was in fact a cookie for my URL which was denoted "authentication."  It didn't seem to be doing anything, since I have to enter username/pw everytime I login, so I deleted it and tried logging in again, thinking Firefox would prompt me to save a pw, but it didn't;  and yes, of course, everytime I login I check the "remember login" box, but it still doesn't remember me.  This seems most odd to me, and I searched the forum for both "login" and "cookie" but didn't find anything remotely approaching this particular issue, at least not anytime recently.  Is there some other setting I should look at/adjust, to try and correct this?  I can't figure out if it's more of a DNN issue or a firefox issue, but cookies are working for other sites, both my own sites and others, so it does seem to be this site; could it be an installation issue?  I uploaded the entire zip file, (05.06.01) and unzipped it on the server via WebsitePanel, Arvixe's version of dotnetpanel.  It appeared to work perfectly, and I saw no errors while the installation was going forward.  So I'm kinda stumped.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!
Andria

PS: I almost forgot to add, the URL to my site, in case you need to see the issue, see if it does this for other people or just me -- and no, this is not spam, the site isn't even up yet, no content!  It's at http://dnn.crypticsites.net --

Thx again!

By any chance is this problem your having with a child portal? We had a similar issue where we would create an account in the child portal, but when we logged in to that portal, it logged us out for every pageview we went to. Our resolution was to add the same exact account information to the parent portal as well. (found that solution on this forum). It seems odd that we have to create an account twice for each child portal, but it worked. So for every child portal we have, we create a Curator account and an Approver account twice. Once for the parent and once for the child.

Please, if I am going about this incorrectly, let me know! We have 50+ child portals (one for each school in our district)

Well, I don't think it's a child portal, since it's the first DNN site at this URL (the subdomain); frankly I'm not sure I would know if it was a child portal. It seems odd to me that in the Portals directory there are two directories, "0" and "_default" -- when I install a new skin it goes to the _default directory, but when I try to add images to an article in the site, I appear to be working in the "0" directory. So I don't really understand what's going on with that. As I said, really new to DNN!

Thx,
Andria
