I can add a new event if I select it from the drop down menu, however when I click on the + sign, or try to edit an event by clicking on the Edit link, I get the little page error box in the bottom left of my browser which then gives me the following error:

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; InfoPath.3; .NET4.0E; MS-RTC LM 8)

Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled.
Details: Error parsing near '<!DOCTYPE html PUBLI'.

Char: 62099
Code: 0
URI: http://www.colbeck.ca/ScriptResource....

No error appears in the DNN Event log.  In Firefox, nothing shows up.  Changing both the page and the container to the Minimal Entrophy ones also did nothing.  This site was upgraded from 5.6.0 (original installation)

This appears to be a known issue in 5.06.01 that occurs when compression is enabled. Try this:

1. Log in as host user and navigate to Host --> Host Settings
2. In the Advanced Settings > Performance Settings, set the Compression Settings to "No Compression" if it was previously set to GZip or Deflate
3. Click Update

Let us know if Compression Setting was GZip or Deflate and if the change to No Compression fixed this issue.

Thanks William.

Compression was indeed turned on and set to GZip. Turning it off solved the issue. Just a note, I was not using whitespace compression.

I encountered the same problem today and found the same conditions and solution to fix my issue as well.

Thanks for having this posted already. :)
