After the above error message, returning to the original site produces a new page that begins like this:

DotNetNuke Error

Domain Name aciis.argosy.local Does Not Exist In The Database

DotNetNuke supports multiple portals from a single database/codebase. It accomplishes this by converting the URL of the client browser Request to a valid PortalID in the Portals database table. The following steps describe the process:

Following Matthias Schlomann's post on the above error, I deleted the old database and recreated a new DotNetNuke database, and checked that it's folder, was under Full Control of Network Service. I also deleted the DNN directory under IIS and re-extracted the files to it, making sure that it, too, had Full Control for Network Service. I tested the Connection to the database and it connected OK.

Then on running the installer, the following error has appeared:

DotNetNuke Error

Any help here?

I was able to find a post that led me to get past the above error, however I have not been able to get past this one:

Upgrading Database to Version 05.06.00...Success
Upgrading Database to Version 05.06.01...FAILURE ERROR: Error: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).
error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\djowk_j0.0.cs' could not be found

For this I have set permissions on C:\WINDOWS\TEMP for Full Control for the Network service, I have restarted the App Pool, and
restarted the web site.

Each time i get this failure, I delete and recreate the database, and delete and re-extract the DNN directory. What other
permission issue could this be referring to?

Thank you.

OK... problem resolved (the account used for the appPool identity [dnn_APPPOOL in my case] is what needs permission to the c:\windows\temp directory).

The rest of the install completed without difficulty.

My greatful appreciation to Wes and Leupold for not just bearing with me, but for their experience and willingness to help.

OK... now I'm going to go have some fun !!
