Yes, I know - I'm still tyring out different configs, but this one was not cool for this reason - I wanted to abstract my modules from the core files physically in the file system, so I have them in a Modules folder and then when I install it as a module it installs to DesktopModules, I think I will have to move them there too...

I suppose you then have to exclude the folder in the web.config so it doesn't recompile?

I havent tried this but you might be ableto do what you want using a custom build task such as the following
copy $(SolutionDir)\Widget\*.ascx $(ProjectDir)\DesktopModules\Widget

no you dont need to do this.  Dynamic compilation only works for a few things
1.  App_Code - all code files in here are auto compiled
2.  ASCX that use CodeFile directive.

ASP.NET 2.0 use file change notification (FCN) on _any_ folder in the website application. Just delete a folder to stop/start the application for dynamic compilation.

correct but this was in response to Rodney above where he thought he needed to exclude a folder in the web.config.  Not all code files are dynamically compiled, only ones that meet certain criteria such as the ones I outlined above.
