Currently the dnn is set to accept urls from www.example.com I want it to except requests from www.request.com. I heard that in order for me to do this I need to create a portal allias on the sql server. How do I do that?

If you can login to your site as HOST or a superuser go to the Host/Portals page, edit a portal and you can add a Portal Alias there. Otherwise you need to access the PortalAlias table in the database.

you need to make sure in you name server, that requests for www.request.com get routed to the correct machine (IP address) and in IIS you need to bind your web site to www.request.com host header as well (unless you are using default web site).
