I have setup a site using DNN. I need a user to be able to see a spreadsheet file and edit it within dnn. I used the file manager module, but this made the user download it and open it on their machine. I only want the user to navigate to a page and the module on that page to display a particular spreadsheet file (there are no computations, just data entry into columns). All the file is is a fitness form showing certain stats like weight, blood pressure, etc. and a personal trainer comes to the site to update the clients file with another column of data. When the trainer is done the file should be able to be saved for the next time it needs to be updated.

is there a module that can do this? or what about some html or c# that i could use in my own module? or maybe start a new database with those fields and display them to the trainer for adding a new session?

I really need help and i hope this community is as strong as I have experienced with my past experiences with fellow developers. All ideas welcome!

Much appreciated!

If I were in your sitation i'd just use a database table and allow data entry into it. Display it, and it will look like a spreadsheet, and use a different interface to allow the addition of one record, then view again and see entire sheet/table.

This can be done with a number of modules. See SGSV at tressleworks.com as a very low-cost yet feature-rich module which you will end up using for many purposes; or take a look at the core Form and List module, perhaps.

THere are some good form modules around that could setup something like what you are looking for.

Have a look at some of the demos on snowcovered.

Thank you both for your input. I am going to try SGSV and create a new database instead of these excel files my client is using for the member's information. Also using excel will get out of control once the members start building up, i cant create a new excel document for every new member. if anyone else has an idea please keep dropping them! this is a big help thenk you very much

If you need to create different input forms, tables and displays I would suggest Xmod.
You can than export to Excel as well.
