Hi All,

I accidentally installed DNN 5.6.1 to my existing DNN 4.9.5 SQL Server 2005 database. I tried redoing the install, but receive the message stated in the Subject of this post.

Which files do I need to edit behind the scenes to use the correct database during the installation procedure? Note that I tried dropping the database, but SSMS states that it's in use (presumably by the install program).

Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Sid

Okay ... not exactly sure what you are trying to say or achieve here.

The DNN install process will use any database you tell it to utilize as part of the installation wizard ...

Create a new database in mssql - call it dnn561 or whatever you desire.
Install a fresh copy of dnn 5.6.1  INSTALL.zip version into the root folder of your website.
Note - this is for a CLEAN INSTALL - there should be no old files in the root folder before you do this.
Browse to website and follow installer steps.

This is a clean install of 5.6.1. During the install process, I accidentally provided the DB info being used for DNN 4.9.5 on the same box. How do I rollback the 5.6.1 install to use a different DB?

You cant roll back an install as such - once its happened its happened - there are changes made in the install files folder that make a roll back not viable. You need to start a fresh install to get things running. Create a new database Delete the contents of your website folders Copy Install.zip back into the website folders and run the install Westa
