I am looking for functionality similar to the menu on http://www.bu.edu/.  All of the menu items expand together on hover and push the rest of the content down (instead of hovering over it).   

I've looked into a lot of the major menu alternatives like DNNRadMenu, DDRMenu, HouseMenu, JDMenu, MenuBox, etc. but none seem to do anything like this or at least don't show examples or screenshots of anything similar.

Any suggestions pointing me in the right direction are much appreciated, as my designer keeps making sites with this functionality and I'm stumped on how to implement them.  Haha

For that you need a menu where the Submenu items are not nested inside the main menu items, which is not supported by a lot of menu's.
So a regular unordered list menu will not work.
You either need a menu that renders custom HTML or you could use two menu's, one for the top (only showing level 0) and a full menu for the submenus, where you simply hide the level 0 items.
The expanding would be done with JS in that case.

Hi LLP,

you really should check out http://dnn-menu.com. It's free and you can build very menu you can imagin.

In your case you can take the markup from any menu you can find out there and make it work on your DNN site.

Mm looking at the source this is about how I thought it would look like

just a nr of floated unordered list and on hover over one item the all expand down

using the xsl template structure from ddrmenu you could easily recreate the structure for each level
