I'd link to implement a page with links sorted by category so that when a user clicks on a category name a series of appropriate sub options and finally actual links are shown. I suppose it's a tree view almost.

Ideally multiple levels e.g.

Where to stay?
        Hotels
           Link 1
           Link 2
        Bed & Breakfast
          Link 3
        Self Catering
What to do?
    Sports
    Museums
    Art
How to get here
   By train
   By Car
   Cycling

Obviously the standard Links module doesn't have this facility, and I can't locat one on Snowcovered.
Does anyone have any ideas before I try and code a bespoke module to do this?

There are a few ways you could do this.

You could use my free Expandable Text/HTML module to accomplish this, it might not be 100% what you are looking for but could get you really close.
