Well, since I'm testing it all out now, there is something. With the advanced ribbon bar installed, the behavior uf the unregistered user changes. Changing language only changes content language. Login and Register remain in whatever language the browser came in.

This is a philosophical question: I would prefer this to follow the content language, but I understand some may like a different solution (can you make it an option?). The classic control panels do exactly what I expect. Which is a pitty, because I like the OH control panel, not only for its lean look and the ability to create tabs without having to go through the admin view, but most of all because it has a feature that I did not find on other control panels: the ability to copy a module from another page, not a link, just a copy. I did use that quite a lot when reorganizing the CUP website. And of course, the ability to change static content language independently.

But if a website comes up in Khmer because of it's GeoIP for instance, and the visitor changes to English, it might mean that he has problems to read Khmer. Keeping "Register" in Khmer does not make sense.

I changed my browser settings, moving km-KH above en-US. Nothing happened, I figured because the language settings from my cookie have precedence over the browser settings. Moving Browser settings above cookie setting in DSL resulted in me opening the website now in Khmer. The DSL language detection rules work just fine.

hm, this is not the intention. According to core definition, the unauthenticated user should get presented browser detected language with fallback portal default language, and be able to select any other language from core language control, which affect current Language and currentUIlanguage simultaneously. Are you using core Language Selector skin object or a 3rd party one?

PS: after language for a user has been initialized or changed by him, language is stored in a cookie, which is used subsequently, whenever the language cannot be determined from URL (e.g. by language parameter).

Something strange. The behavior of static text (Register/Login) happens only in IE8.

In Firefox, Chrome and Safari, register/login follows the selected language for unregistered users (as I would want it)

When something works in one browser and not in another, the key to the mystery lies in the HTML output.

My complaint has nothing to do with the advanced control panel but with a missing closing forward slash in a preceding <img tag it seems.
