I have a site working, for example http://dnnsite.domain.com This was the beta site.

We already have a production url http://www.production.com. I want to use this URL for the existing Beta DNN site. How do I do this. The old http://dnnsite.domain.com does not have to be active, I can replace it with the production URL if only 1 URL can be used in DNN. I tried changing the PortalAlias table entry. to the new URL and it did not work. Anything I am missing out on ?

Thanks...SP

Hey, Did you ever get this solved?  I have the same question - how does one replace the primary URL on a host portal?

Thanks.

Have you tried to simply add a new alias with the alias manager?

Hi,

It's a strange day. I am doing exactly the same thing. I have pullled the dotnetnuke portal app and database from a hostr site because the previous person only buillt it there. Now I want to create a local copy with it's own webserver, but it keeps going back to the host site, so I assume somewhere in the database a table entry must be changed. Does anybody know what the changes are to re-point to a new URL.

Thanks,

Les

Hi Again,

My concern is I don't want to repoint the current url to a new destination. I want to create a development environment from the host site that was created from another pary. This person never built the DNN app locally. He worked strictly from the Host Providers environment. I don't work that way. I like to have a development environment.

Everything seems fine, but when I run the local copy ie - localhost/dnnmycopy it goes to Host Site. I want it to run locally and fire from my personal webserver. Does this make sense? I am new to DotNetNuke, so I'm not sure how to approach this. I'm guessing it may take some db changes, but I'm not sure.

I'd appreciate the reponses.

Thanks Again,

Les
