I am trying to put these 3 worlds together but lack the background to modify the base installs to get it all working.  It would be invaluable to see a down and dirty walkthrough of getting the base up and going

Here is what i have so far
  1. Install ASP 4 on iis server http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en...
  2. Configer web to be asp 4 instead of asp2
  3. Install AspNetMVC3Setup.exe from microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en...
  4. Download manual install of telerik mvc http://www.telerik.com/account/your-p...
  5. Copy the Telerik.Web.Mvc.dll file from binaries mvc3 to the inetpub\dnninstall\bin folder
  6. ---Need Assistance---

I need help with the following parts

  1. Telerik provides a bunch of Content templates for their grid etc.  Where do i put those files to access them via dnn install
  2. Are there any other files i need to be concerned about (i do not mess with localization on our system)
  3. Once All 3 tools are completely installed coorectly can someone give a simple DNN sample script.
        1. Keep it simple from the Users table
        2. Display Name
        3. Email
        4. FirstName
        5. LastName
        6. all in a Telerik Grid
        7. Enable Sorting
        8. Enable Filtering

I think this tool would be very helpful for us.. and maybe in future dnn these opensource tools and a sample in the razor module would be cool.

While it is theoretically possible to create an mvc application that can run inside a dnn webform based module - its not really the most suitable way to go.  There are a number of issue to be resolved and a few hurdles to jump - which just dont exist if you built a standard dnn module.

But for what its worth below are a couple of links to blog that charles nurse wrote on whats involved and a

But really - this is a whole lot of work to achieve what can already be done out of the box with dnn modules based around the webform system.

And for the most part - pretty much the entire collection of  Telerik ASP.NET AJAX verisions of the telerik controls are already included via DNN wrappers for free as part of the core dnn api.  (yes I know there are some limitations on how they can be used - but you can do what you want if you purchase a development licence or work within the wrappers - which covers most needs anyway.)

So not sure what you would actually be gaining apart from a lot of additional headaches by trying to go down the MVC path on the dotnetnuke platform which is NOT natively MVC but instead ASP.NET webforms based.

just my 2 cents

Oh and on an entirely different topic - dnn 5.6.1 can use razor based modules on servers running asp.net 4.0 - thru the Razor Host module.

http://blog.theaccidentalgeek.com/pos...  couple of things have changed since beta but this is a pretty good walk thru of whats possible.

razor based modules on servers running asp.net 4.0 - thru the Razor Host module.

This is my question.  I want to use the Razor module to write scripts to put sql data into Telerik Grids.   I have made modules for this task in the past but i want to explore the option of writing scripts for the Razor Host module to see if i can get developement and delopyment time down.
