I'm interested in generating a viable solution to this, although I think the solution will end up being similar to the implementation found in the Links module where you can check mark the link option:

Open Link In New Browser Window?

But it will look more like...

Open Page In New Browser Window?

Part of the issue will be dealing with the menu control's interface. I'm also swamped with other software project at the moment, so I don't have a lot of free time. Add that all up, and I'm going to say wait till after 3.3/4.1 to see if this is added. If not, I'll look at it then.

You can make a javacsript you can put in the Href of <a>
Like this:
<a href=" window.open('SomePage.htm');void(0);">
Click here</a>

It leaves the original page unchanged and opens the link in a new window

But unfortunately DNN always put HTTP:// in front of an external link
And I think that's why it doesn't work

one more suggestion:
Use the technique above in combination with one of the existing redirect modules (?)

You are the man! I swear I tried this and a dozen variations of this... I recently upgraded from 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 and I'm not sure if I re-tested since then. Perhaps there was an issue in 4.4.0... Thanks!
