From what I understand, DNN4 was made primarily for VS2005 /asp2.0. If I am forward-looking what version should I use if I want to maintain a site for the next 3 years.

How long will the Core dnn  team develop DNN3? VS 2003 will still be popular for years to come.

If you are planning for a new website, I would prefere that you go with 4, better than making it with 3 and then you come to a point that you will need to migrate.

AFAIK there is no fixed end date for DNN3 developement, but for sure it will be much less then one year, as you can easily migrate to DNN4 and synchronizing both code bases takes away part of the limited resources of the Core Team.

I am currently creating modules using vs2003 and ddn3. Does this mean I have to migrate all my created modules to vs2005 if I want to upgrade versions?

You can develop you modules for DNN3 and they usually will run in DNN4 (of course, you should test this). Therefore you do not need to upgrade the modules as long as you do not want to migrate your developement environment.
