I'm in the midst of comparing DNN to Drupal.  I need to build a small prototype in DNN to make an equal comparison to Drupal.  I used MS WebMatrix to setup a DNN site, which went smooth.  I am using a decent laptop to setup the sites locally for comparison sakes.  The DNN site came up initially, but now, the performance goes from instantaneous loading of pages to 2-3 minutes.  It also drops the skin sometimes, and gives just bare content/links.  I've tried running the local site in both IE 8 and Firefox.  The browser doesn't seem to make a difference.  So far, I've been able to add a bit of content, but at the rate I'm going, DNN is not looking promising.  I'm desperately trying not to give up on DNN so quickly, but if this continues, I may have no choice.  For now, I'm going to assume it's something I did or didn't do during the setup.

I am using the DNN 5.06.01 (238) Community version.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any/all help is much appreciated!

Thanks.

DNN while not exactly a speed daemon, it performs very well when everything is configured correctly.

Ok. But does an "out-of-the-box" install take 2-3 minutes per page refresh?  This is a 1-2 page site, with very little content.

Of cource not. 2-3 minutes means something is wrong.

I totally agree that something is wrong, but what could it be?  I even went so far as to delete my test DNN site, and the default installed DNN site, and went through the install process again.  Same issues.  I installed DNN using MS Webmatrix - has anyone else seen this behavior?

It doesn't matter which browser I try (IE 8 or Firefox).  I even shut down IIS on the test laptop, as MS Webmatrix installed with IIS 7.5 Express.

Thanks for your input.
