Please post the modified <connectionStrings> section of the site's web.config and the first part of the <appSettings> section down through the node for the legacy connection string. Please replace username and password values in the connection string with "xxxx" when posting.

Are you 100% sure the database and web server are the same box and "localhost" is the right database server name?

As I understand from your previous post you are migrating the site to a remote production server - probably on a shared hosting plan. In such a case, the value for the Data Source attribute of the connection string will definitely not be "localhost" but rather the name or address of the SQL server. For example, "server\myinstance" or in some cases an ip address. The value should be provided in your hosting control panel's database information section.

Also when you restored the database to the remote server did you or your hosting provider create a new database user login username and password?  Be sure that the new credentials are the ones used in the connection string. Most hosting providers when restoring a database will setup or request you setup a login with a username different from the old username from the restore to avoid an "orphaned" database user issue.
