Why does dnn add so much of it's javascript files inside the body tag?  I thought that the purpose of the SCRIPTS container was for adding scripts to the 'head' element instead, aren't there performance benefits from having the javascript in the head instead of the body?

They are in the body because that is how ASP.NET works. There is no benefit of putting the scripts in the head from a performance side of view. Actually they should be on the bottom of the HTML if possible...

The best place to put scripts is not in the <HEAD> area - as this can actually cause timing issues.  Ideally scripts should be the last thing loaded at the bottom of the <BODY> section.

Ok, makes sense. I know a few scripts work better in than at the end of the body. Maybe the scripts object needs to be in the end of the body anyways so they don't block parallel downloads, then just load the few that need to be earlier like normal, like jquery.
