I have built a DNN site for my church and i keep having problems uploading the audio files to the site. They are about 68 to 70Meg in size and during the upload I get a 404 error. What have i done wrong or is this a server type timeout error.

In addition to using a different way of uploading those large files as Sebastian suggested, I would add that you should really try to reduce the size of the files to be uploaded. If you are only uploading the sermon portion of the service, you can try (using an audio editing program) to first apply a dynamic amplitude filter (compander) to compress the peaks to about -6dB and at the same time boost any very low level passages from about -20 dB up to -12dB. Then, assuming that you are saving the audio file as an mp3, save it in mono (cuts the filesize by about half right there)  and use a 12k sampling rate. Don't try such heavy-handed size reduction techniques on music - but for spoken word, the change in quality is not that noticable. My church's sermons run about 45 minutes with a resulting mp3 file size of between 6 an 8 MB.

I agree with Bill, but would suggest also providing larger downloads as streams, allowing your visitors to fast forward, stop etc. within the files. If you are on your own server, checkout IIS 7 media services and smooth streaming.
