Hi guys,
I am very new to dot net nuke development and decided to do one of my project in DNN 5xx. I need to create a lot of custom modules in my project.
Unlike some of other folks i got stuck with how to start module development using WAP in DNN. Is there any complete sample available there which i can follow? I mean there are a lot of configuration issues and multiple ways of doing one thing confuses me a lot. If any of you have clear and concise guild lines please do share with me. Thanks in advance for sharing.

There are a lot of core modules that utilize the WAP project structure. A few with recent releases that may be able to help are: Blog, Events, Forum. The forum module is set to be retired (as an FYI) but it can still serve as a good example for the project structure. If you are looking to use the WebForms MVP pattern, which allows unit testing and also uses the WAP project structure, I have a few example projects on CodePlex for that. Once you have taken a look and/or if you have other questions please post back here.

Just a comment on WAP versus WSP - if you are going to create a lot of modules for a single site - that is modules which you dont plan selling to 3rd parties.  I would strongly suggest you look at using the WSP development model.  There are a whole lot of advantages in the development cycle using WSP.

Firstly there is NO compile cycle - which means no waiting for vs2010 to so a compile - second because there IS no compile cycle - there is no web application restart cycle every time you want to test your module.  The WSP module basically allows you to change a line of code and hit refresh on your web browser to see the changes.

In the early days as you are learning the api this can be a huge advantage in terms of speed of development.
