Hi all,

Can anyone please help me, that how to migrate my dnn website from one ser to another server. I am very new to this, please suggest me how can I do this.

Are you copying just the website, or both  the website and database? 

Do you use the default connection string fo SQL express attaching the file in the App_Data folder?

Either way the move should be pretty simple, assuming either situation, you will need to copy the file system, apply proper permissions. Create IIS Web Application, and update the connection string in the Web.config.

Hi James,

We need to move everything files+database also. IT's not using the default data base.
Please suggest me how can I do this. as this is very urgent..

Make sure server the new server has .Net Installed and a database server
Copy the website files to the new server.
Point IIS to the folders, update host headers
Import and restore the backed up database into the new server
Check the web.config's connection string and update the database string
Update DNS

That should do it, but hard to tell you exactly what to do without knowing your current knowledge, or the enviornment, and applications.
