Not sure which forum this should be targetting, but this one seems the most likely option.

Back in January I was using DNN 4.9.5. When I placed a photo into a html module whilst using the images properties dialog box I could not only select the image, but I could also make a hyperlink allowing the image to be shown at larger size in a new window when clicked.

Pretty basic stuff. Now fast forward to today. I have a brand new install of DNN 5.6.1 and I'm trying to do the same thing and failing miserably. The image toolbar button no longer has the secondary tab where you could enter the hyperlink information!!!

Ok, that's progress... Let's move with the times. So I assumed that the image button does images and hyperlink button does hyperlinks and never the twain shall meet.

So, I highlighted my embedded image and clicked the hyperlink button hoping that I could then record the hyperlink instructions. But no, the hyperlink manager does not allow you to browse to images, only documents, and in this new version of the editor an image is not a document.

If I'm doing something wrong please put me out of my misery. This should be pretty basic stuff, so why is it so much more difficult since the days of DNN 4.9.5. I've wasted a stupied amount of time on this and I can't belive it should be this difficult... it never used to be!

Many thanks

Steve

DNN 4.9.5 uses FCKEditor, while DNN 5.6 uses Telerik RadEditor and DNN Corp. provider implementation. You may switch back to to FCKEditor by editing your web.config or install either latest CKEditor provider from Ingo Herbote (dnnckeditor.codeplex.com) or dnnWerk RadEditor Provider (radeditor.codeplex.com).

Hi Sebastian

I've discovered that the default editor can be changed from the following link:
http://chayadigital.wordpress.com/2010/09/23/revert-dnn-5-to-the-fck-editor/

By Changing

        <htmlEditor defaultProvider=”TelerikEditorProvider“> to <htmlEditor defaultProvider=”FckHtmlEditorProvider“>

However, does DNN 5.61 ship with the provider for reinstating FCK Editor as compared to DNN 5.4 web configs, I don't see to have any provider information in my config file. Does mean I'd have to install it?

With regards to the other editors mentioned, do you now if the ability to insert images and make them hyperlinks is any easier than it was before? I don't want to clog up my clean DNN install with failed editors. Which editor do you favour?

Many thanks

Steve

Steve, you might need to install FCKEditor Provider, if not already installed - see Host : Extensions menu item and check for available extensions to install. I noticed issue with FCKEditor and current RadEditor in IE9, which will be released next week and expect later Versions to play nicely with it. dnnWerk RadEditor is expected to be included with DNN 6, while Ingo did a really great job of integrating ckEditor 3, the successor of FCKEditor 2. Preference depends on your needs, I suggest testing on a local install, as I do with any new extension.
