Hi,

We have a DNN site "WebsiteA" which is already deployed on a production environment. We started from a development environment, moved to a staging environment then moved to production.

But right now, I would like to add a new portal "WebsiteB" on this DNN instance. Where should I start? Do I need to start from our development environment? If so, how would I export that portal content into the staging then into the production? Does the Export Portal Template process this one smoothly? Or should I add/develop it directly to our production environment?

I'm using a DNN installation with the latest update (5.6)

Thanks.

Jan, are you maintaining content in production right now, or are you maintaining it in a staging/dev environment and deploying it to production every so often? The export template functionality can work, but is dependent upon the use of modules that support IPortable, meaning they support importing/exporting content.

Hi Chris,

For WebsiteA, we are maintaining content on the production directly.

Hmmm, this is a bit tricky. This means I have to make sure that modules I use/buy should support IPortable should I create a new one on a dev/staging environment.

The portal data (on the database) is also exported via the export template functionality right?

Would you recommend creating the new portal on the production site?

By the way, your car looks awesome!
