Hello all.
im trying to upgrade the dnn from 4.0.2 to 5.6.1 with one stroke.
at the installation, it ran the auto upgrade which failed at the end (ending at around 5.0.1 without further upgrading).
after combining my web code with the dnn code, & fixing all the bugs in the VS2010 i run my web page, & at the login page after entering a universal user name\password (host, dnnhost) i get this screen:

does any one have some tips ??
should i try to upgrade the dnn in few steps ?

You're a brave man. Try it with next steps: 4.0.2 > 4.6.2 > 4.9.5 > 5.1.4 > 5.6.1

I've just about finished going 4.05.00 to 5.06.01

I ran these steps:

4.05.00  I had to manually delete DotNetNuke.Provider.Membership.SqlDataProvider.dll from /bin
4.06.02  Went fine.
4.09.05  Went fine.
5.04.04  on line 34 and 89 of /APP_CODE/XML/download.vb add "System." to make System.Web.HttpResponse and System.Web.HttpContext

After installing 5.05.01, I had a problem where since I used a non-standard port, I couldn't get to the portal, I was forwarded to port 80.

Be sure to go to
Host > Portal >Add Alias
and add one with the proper port before you upgrade...or be prepared to find a way to get the server bound to port 80.
