New Community Website

Ordinarily, you'd be at the right spot, but we've recently launched a brand new community website... For the community, by the community.

Yay... Take Me to the Community!

Welcome to the DNN Community Forums, your preferred source of online community support for all things related to DNN.
In order to participate you must be a registered DNNizen

Okay I am trying to create various levels of access to the forums:

For example only registered users can see certain forums while others are visible to all users - what have I missed for doing this.

I know it is there somewhere but I can't find it.

basically setting permissions by forum group.

Always in need of help and not afraid to ask

In a situation like this I make sure all users can see the page and the module, then I give edit rights to the Registered Users on the module. This allows everyone to see the forums and then only registered users can post. (This module does not support users who are not logged in posting anyways). If you then want to further restrict permissions you need to do it from edit forum level. ONLY set authorized edit roles on an individual forum if you want to restrict posting access further than what is set at the module level. Then, if you want to restrict who can see further you need to set the authorized view (and check private forums for both of these changes as well.)
