Does anyone know of a module or setting that can be used to prevent/block or at minimum notify anon users who are obviously obtaining content for and subsequently (more than likely) using the content outside the stated terms of use ?  We observe the pattern of behavior by way of our site monitor --viewing 300 consequtive pages in a short period of time (copy/paste most likely).  Any help would be appreciated.

One way to deal with this would be by setting up a custom skin object that tracked ip addresses and counted page requests
... if the counts exceeded your thresholds you it could redirect the user to a error type page.

The other option would be a custom httphandler that did a similar sort of thing.

Are you sure it is a human?  It could be one of the search engine bots.  If you stop/block it you may find your search rankings drop.

Wes/Richard

Thanks much for your reply.

Richard:  we are able to distinguish between bots and non, this incident was obviously not a bot.  Albeit, you raise an interesting point, if we were to establish a limit vis a vis a skin, I assume this could adversely impact our ranking given taking this measure would set limits on page views.  Do you agree?

Wes:  given this dilemma, is there a way to set page view limits without impacting bot traffic?

Thanks once again for your help.

Along these same lines...

I'm looking for a DNN Module that would pull in some of the features of SaaS applications that provide full featured Document Rights Management (DRM)

I have a customer who is currently using a product from Cranium Softworks (Entitlement Management Solutions)
http://www.craniumsoftworks.com/EMS_Overview.aspx
that provides some of these features you are requesting (e.g.  Rogue users can be automatically cut off as abuse occurs.)

I have seen a module that touches on these DRM features, MANDEEPS.COM Page Protection
(http://www.mandeeps.com/Default.aspx?...)

The is a simple starting point into this feature set, and I would LOVE to know if there is a more full featured DRM module available.

Suggestions?
