Hi

I am contemplating upgrade of Forum from 5.0.0 to 5.0.01 - is this a safe & painless upgrade or are there issues? I ask as have had trouble upgrading forum in versions long past.

I am currently operating latest DNN framework 5.0.6.

thanks for your advice

Hi Miles,

I assume you mean 5.6.0.and 5.6.1?

You can't really generalise about whether any upgrade will be good one or not, it depends on your individual set up. Many of us (including me) had problems with the 5.6.1 upgrade but the latest 5.6.2 upgrade ran like a dream on both my sites (although I'm already seeing posts by those not so fortunate).

It might be worthwhile waiting to find out if you can safely bypass 5.6.1 and upgrade directly to 5.6.2.

Hi Miles,

Sorry, you're talking about upgrading the Forum module, I think we're all in DNN upgrade mode at the moment!

Anyway, I upgraded the Forum module whilst in DNN 5.6.1 and everything went OK. Not that that's a guarantee for your own upgrade.

Pingle

Thanks - yes to clarify I did mean I am using 5.6.1 as DNN framework.

And was asking separately about upgrade to latest forum module as per the subject title.

Did you discern any notable changes to the forum module in your upgrade? tks

Hi Miles, I couldn't see any changes in the new version. It's probably not worth worrying about as Active Forums will become the core forum as from DNN 6.
