Hi there,

I am completely new to DNN and I was wondering if DNN is a good option for my situation.
Currently I have a basic ASP.NET website with a master page and some other pages.
I also successfully installed DNN (latest version) with IIS 7.5 on a Windows 7 computer.
My structure in IIS looks like this:
- DNN as a Virtual Directory under the Default Web Site and converted into an Application.
- MyWebsite as a separate website with his own Application Pool.

The main reason why I would like to use DNN is for the purpose of a CMS.
So is DNN a good choice for me and how do I merge my website into DNN (or DNN into my website)?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers, Ronald

Well, since DotNetNuke is a CMS, I would copy paste the content of the old site to the new dotnetnuke installation and use only DotNetNuke after that.

Do you mean copy the files from my website folder and paste them in the DNN folder which will overwrite some files like web.config and default.aspx because they are both present in each folder? So how do I do that? Should I create a subfolder in my websites folder and install DNN there? How to change the layout then and apply my own CSS and divs?

Sorry for these newbie questions but I really have no clue how to install DNN with my existing website without loosing the structure and CSS.

You don't have to be sorry, we all started somewhere. What I mean is to copy the content (not the files) of you site and put it into dotnetnuke text/html modules. Then you can get or create a skin to suit your needs for the look. Or the other way arount, get the skin you like, then start copy pasting content into modules.

As for the skins, you have a few options:
1. Get a free from the 2010 DotNetNuke Design Challenge 2010 http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/SkinningContest/Entries/tabid/1435/Default.aspx you can use and modify them freely, they have the same type of license has DotNetNuke itself.
2. There are also a bunch of free skins at http://dnnskins.com/free-skins.aspx
3. You can buy a skin on http://www.snowcovered.com
4. You can learn to make your own skin by reading the skinning guide at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=UvGirRQpGRo%3d&tabid=478&mid=857
