I have dotnetnuke running on Godaddy.com. How to I install new module on a hosted web server? When I tried the standard way to browse for the installed zip file, it gave me my local hardrive directory; I picked the installed zip file and it would run forever without any messages. I uploaded the module installed zip file to my hosted web server. But I am not sure how to browse my remote server and automatically installed the new module. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you have uploaded the module package to the site folder Install/Module you can trigger its installation (and that of any other module .zip packages) by then browsing to <mysitedomain>/Install.aspx?mode=installresources

This article give more information:

Before installing any module check and double check that the ASP.Net worker process account had been granted full permission (including modify) on the root installation folder and all child folders. This is a particular problem with GoDaddy hosted sites if you have moved the site from its recommended install location in a child folder under the root folder to the root folder itself as GoDaddy will not allow you to grant necessary permissions on the root folder.

Hello,

I am not installing dnn. I want to install a new module or extension. How do I do that. The install process that you mentioned seems to be for dnn itself.

The DotNetNuke installer has several operating modes. When called with mode=InstallResources, any .zip packages in the Install child folders such as Install/Module will be installed. Please see the referenced article which shows the various installer modes and how they are used.
