Hi Guys,

I am currently reviewing the OWS module and it looks very similar to the Form and List module. Has anyone used OWS module?

I am trying to build the following modules:
1) Portfolio module. This is for an architect website. Ability to add categories and create projects that will be assigned to each category. Each project will have some text and an image gallery

2) Exhibition module. This is for an Art Gallery website. The current exhibition will have some info with a read more link which will take you to the details page of the exhibition. The details page will have some descirption and an image gallery displaying all the paintings

I think the above cannot be implemented with the Form and List module (i.e. I cannot see a way to create the image gallery and categories).

Thanks
Paris

Hi Paris

OWS is the most powerful web app module available for DNN. It also has the highest learning curve.

I'm going to guess that neither of the solutions you mentioned will have large numbers of records involved (100,000+) and I will also guess that both of these solutions are mainly for data display and exporting of data isn't going to be needed so much. If that holds true and I were building it I would probably use the old Xmod module to build it. Mainly because it is so easy to build things and it brings a large amount of features to the table - auto thumbnail generation and auto watermarking (these require the Fatgeorge upload control Xmod add-on).

Another easy way of doing the two things you mention is to use a module that is templateable such as DigArticle or Ventrian's Property Agent or News Articles modules. I would probably look at DigArticle first due to it's nice media handling features. This way you could make it easier for your clients to add new projects by allowing them to use Live Writer. You could also do a mash up with say News Articles module and Ultra Media Gallery module by passing the project ID to the detail page and having all modules filter on that.
