A DNN site that I manage is in the middle of an on-line contest. The contest module is configured to require each voter sign up (with validation) for an account before voting. This was not to capture user data, but to discourge "ballot box stuffing".  There will probably be around 10,000 new accounts created on a system that normally only has 30. I did make a DB backup before this all started.

Would I be safe in assuming that I can just restore the db at the end of the contest to quickly get rid of the newly created accounts (and the uneeded contest votes data table)?

Thanks.

I would think that would be OK provided that you understand that ANY changes/additions of other content, metadata related to the installation or upgrade of any modules, changes to user role assignments, metadata related to files uploaded, etc., etc. will be also lost with a restore of the database.

Thanks for the reply. In fact, I'm going to backup the db in it's current state just in case it goes a little sidways on me ;-)

The only thing you need to consider when doing a roll back - is whether you will be looking OTHER information that could be valuable in the future - Mailing List of contestants for example or Site statistics and Logging info.
