Hello,

I have a field which serves as an input for a calculated column. It is a contractor's hourly cost. I would like the role of Contractor to be able to edit this value. I then have a calculated column representing Hourly Sell Rate, which adds a margin on the cost. I want to show the Sell Rate to all users...this is not a problem. However, I would like to HIDE the cost column on the Form View to all users and make it editable to Role = Contractor.

Is there any way to do this?

Just bumping this....does anyone know for sure if there is a way to make this happen? Basically to restrict showing fields on the form view by role?

I wonder if this is possible, too. I know that DDR menu exposes roles to the XSLT for processing.

Sure, that is what the option "restricted column" is good for. If you enable this option, only users with the related permission see it in the edit form

Sorry, to be more clear...

It's not only just about the ability to edit the form field but also to see it at all. i.e. if I am using form and list for a product listing and I have the following fields:

  • Item#
  • Description
  • Cost (only allow admins to see or edit this field)
  • Price ( cost * 120%)
From what I see with the Restricted Form Field is that you can make it so only certain roles can edit that field in Form mode...I also want to HIDE that field in form mode to those users.
