please make sure to have all files from the same DNN version, e.g. 4.6.2 for old versions like this, you need to adopt web.config manually with changes, you can read a to do list here: http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/18... I suggest uploading all DNN 5.6.2 files, adjust web.config and perform the upgrade.

Once you are on 4.6.2, you may consider a backup and upgrade to 4.9.5 (for security reasons strongly suggested), which will now adjust web.config automatically.

 Hi Sebatian,

Re: Upgrade of Hosted Live  DNN 4.5.2

Although, the biggest problem is resolved, I'm not sure why the customer

is saying that other things are just not right ( sorry to be so vague ).

So maybe, a DNN module upgrade is needed too.

I mistakenly wrote that I was on 4.6.2 when the site is on 4.5.2.

So, I believe you are saying to upgrade the 4.52 to 4.6.2.

Which install files ? the 4.6.2 upgrade version ( I don't believe it will upgrade the DNN core modules right ? )

or  4.6.2 full install version ( without the web.config ).

http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/18...  has nice set of DNN Upgrade instructions.

Then from DNN 4.6.2 to DNN 4.9.5 to DNN 5.6.2. ( yikes )

So, my To Do list.

1.  I need to try this in a test environment first.

I haven't been able to get the DNN 4.5.2. version to run on my test laptop locally

to test the upgrades.

I will open another post with the issue.

2. See what 3rd party DNN Modules are being used and will they work in DNN 4.9 and DNN 5.6

Thanks, Paul

upgrade packages contain upgraded versions of modules as well. I don't expect issues between 4.5 and 4.9, but you should install latest module versions before upgrading to DNN. Upgrading DNN 4.9.5 to DNN 5.6.2, I strongly suggest upgrading via 5.2.3, 5.4.4 and 5.5.1.

Sebastian,

Thanks a lot.  I will try the upgrade from 4.5.2 to 4.6.2 to 4.95 once I get the local test DNN site working ( to practice ).

But, I'm have "issues" with getting the downloaded 4.5.2 site going on Win 7 IIS 7 even though I got a 4.5.2  install working.

I suspect I have to compare the web.configs of the non working with the working one.

To be discussed in another post.

Many Thanks, Paul
