I'm not new to DNN but i've been asked a question in regards to registration that i've not really dealt with before.

Using DNN 5.6.x I have a situation where my Admin wants to review all and approve all registrars personally before granting access and sent an email to him notifying that "someone" has registered so that he can review.

Right now, when a user registers on my site, they are giving instant access. WE DO NOT WANT THAT.
Please advise on the settings i need to set so that we may review registrar's info first.
Is that possible? I've seen it done on other DNN sites.

I believe such settings are located in ADMIN under manage users?

Please advise. Soon...
Thanks

  1. In Admin-->Site Settings, Advanced Settings set "User Registration" to "Private"
  2. In Admin-->User Accounts, click on "Manage Profile Properties" and check "Required" for any profile properties that a new user must fill in when registering or updating his/her profile. This is also a good time to add any custom profile properties using the "Add New Profile Property" link button.
  3. In Admin-->User Accounts, click on "User Settings". Near the end of the various settings look for "Require a valid profile for registration" and set it's value to "True".
Now when a new user registers, an email will be sent to the designated portal administrator (most likely the "admin" account but can be changed in Admin-->Site Settings) advising of the new registration request. The administrator will then need to go to Admin-->User Accounts and after reviewing/editing the registration form can click on "Authorize User" or "Delete User" to allow the new user account or delete it. The newly approved user will receive an email indicating that their registration has been approved. Also, while reviewing and approving the registration, the administrator can grant any special security roles to the new user account.
