Kai,

Can you please give me an example of settings you use?

Do you select Basic Authentication?
What port number do you use?
Can you give me an example of the server? Is it something like pod123456.outlook.com:995
Do you enable SSL?

Thanks again

Todd

Hi,

As stated earlier, i haven't tested BPOS/Office265 with DNN, but the settings you have to use with a Mail-client when using POP3 are these:

    SMTP
Server: smtp.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com (if you are in Europe!!!!)

    Connectio-Type: TLS, Port 587
        In a Mail-Client: requires authentication” = YES

    Username: BPOS username
    Passwort: BPOS user Passwort

Hope that helps.

Kai

Thanks Kai,

I have outbound working in Windows mail but get an error in DNN when I add these settings in DNN. Whereabouts in DNN do I tell it connection type of TLS?

Sorry, if i was misleading.

When you want to enable TSL (Transport Layer Security) you must activate SSL to get an encrypted connection.

The SMTP-Server itself depends on your location or better, on which Datacenter your accounts are.
  • Datacenter in Northamerica: Smtp.mail.microsoftonline.com
  • Datacenter in Europe: Smtp.mail.emea.microsoftonline.com
  • Datacenter for Asia and Pacific: Smtp.mail.apac.microsoftonline.com

Thanks for your response Kai,

Just to recap.

I have smtp successfully working using Windows Mail. (like you suggested).

So issue is with getting it going in DNN. I have right SMTP server address, I have require ssl ticked. I have authentication set to basic as this is the only option that allows me to put in a username. When I test i get error message There has been an error trying to send the test email. The error is:
There is a problem with the configuration of your SMTP Server. Mail was not sent.

I have tried the smtp address both with & without :587
