Hello..
I'd like to use the Feedback form for a contact us, but to lessen possible verbal threats. etc I'd like to include the IP address of the client when the e-mail is sent out.
If this isn't possibly, what is the possibilities of getting it added as a feature request?
Thanks..  -Jeff

I knew I should have taken the time to implement templated emails (and feedback form) in Feedback 5.00.02.

Although the submitter's IP address is recorded in the Feedback database table and is used for the optional rejection or throttling of submissions from the same IP, it is not included in the email sent to the admin or other selected recipients. A modification to the code in Feedback.ascx.vb and recompilation of the module code would have to be done to add this feature. A better approach will be to implement templated emails where a token can be replaced by the submitter's IP.

Please add this as an enhancement request in the Feedback projects Issue Tracker: http://dnnfeedback.codeplex.com/worki...

Thank you for the reply..  I'm converting an existing VB.NET website which I created over to DNN..  My contact us page has the client IP address entered in the outgoing e-mail, this is why I asked if the feedback form had it.

For the time being, when there's a feedback sent and we need to see the IP address, we should be able to look within the IIS logs to see the IP address.  The current page doesn't get hit that often anyway; site's been up for over an year and we've received two feedbacks in that time.

You mentioned implementing templated e-mails for the feedback form so I've googled this to find further information.  I can't find anything in the feedback module settings, nor anything about templated e-mails.  Where can I find further information about this?

Thanks.. -Jeff

Also, is there a way to make the e-mail field optional?  I'm going to use this feedback form as a crime tips page; it's for a prosecutor website.

Usually, people will leave the tip and don't want to have to have to enter any possible information which can be tracked to them.  If the form is requiring an e-mail address, then they may not want to leave a tip.

Thanks.. -Jeff

Jeff,

Templated e-mails are not an option in the current Feedback module (5.00.02) so there is no setting for defining or selecting a template. I believe there is already an enhancement request in the project's CodePlex issue tracker for both templated e-mails and a templated feedback form.

The e-mail field is about the only field on the form which is cannot be set as optional. In most use cases, that is the most important piece of information for the site's admin or other feedback recipient to obtain so that they may contact the sender of the feedback.

I can, however, understand your use case. Please add an enhancement request already to allow all fields to be optional at the project's CodePlex issue tracker:http://dnnfeedback.codeplex.com/worki...
