trying to use DeleteListEntryByListName to manage some lists in DNN 5.5.0 and getting the following error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: The stored procedure 'dbo.DeleteListEntryByListName' doesn't exist. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: The stored procedure 'dbo.DeleteListEntryByListName' doesn't exist. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.DeriveParameters() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(SqlCommand command) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelperParameterCache.DiscoverSpParameterSet(SqlConnection connection, String spName, Boolean includeReturnValueParameter, Object[] parameterValues) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelperParameterCache.GetSpParameterSetInternal(SqlConnection connection, String spName, Boolean includeReturnValueParameter) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelperParameterCache.GetSpParameterSet(String connectionString, String spName, Boolean includeReturnValueParameter) at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteNonQuery(String connectionString, String spName, Object[] parameterValues) at DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.DeleteListEntryByListName(String ListName, String Value, Boolean DeleteChild) at DotNetNuke.Common.Lists.ListController.DeleteListEntryByListName(String ListName, String Value, Boolean DeleteChild) at F5.Modules.F5GroupJoin.View.Button1_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in C:\inetpub\F5\DesktopModules\F5GroupJoin\View.ascx.cs:line 229 at System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.System.Web.UI.IPostBackEventHandler.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(NameValueCollection postData) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I can see related procedures are still there (DeleteListEntryByID and DeleteList) but sure enough DeleteListEntryByListName is not there in two fresh DNN installations.

So....was this depreciated?  Is there another method?

That's quite odd . . . The method was never deprecated as its code is included in the ListController and SqlDataProvider in v 5.6.2. However, the associated stored procedure DeleteListEntryByListName does not exist even in v 4.9.5.

If you are trying to delete all entries having a given ListName, you should be able to call

ListController.DeleteList (ByVal ListName As String, ByVal ParentKey As String)

with an empty string provided as the ParentKey.

Alternatively if you need to delete all entries having a given ListName AND their child lists (if any), you could call

ListController.DeleteList(ByVal list As ListInfo, ByVal includeChildren AS Boolean)

Yeah, I suspect its an underused method but as you point out the procedure is just not there. I found a workaround using my own code since I only wanted to delete specific items within a list. Works fine for me but I'll also report the missing procedure as well.
