I am trying to install the forums modules at www.dealwithme.com . This is the 2nd module I've tried to install (along with the Google Analytics) and the 2nd time it does not work or I just don't get it. To me module installation is anything but easy with DNN.

The instructions say to go to 'Add New Module' the browse to and upload the file ending in '.install'

Where is this file?

I have the entire forum install archive extracted and sitting on my desktop. I have browsed through the entire thing and there is NOTHING ending in .install. I tried uploading the file ending in dnn and nothing happens.

Can anybody that has installed these forums please help me? So far with my DNN install every module I've tried to install just goes nowhere.

dnn modules are in .zip'd

you can find the forum install Link/Author at:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/LinkClick.aspx?link=820&tabid=795&mid=2189

Or:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dnn/Forum_03.20.01_Install.zip?use_mirror=puzzle

download the above zip file to your computer, and then follow your "module" upload procedure, EXCEPT when you browse for you module on your system, browse for the .zip file you just downloaded.

Johnny,

You have no idea how much you just helped.

With all of my reading and experiementing and begging for help nobody has ever said that you upload the ZIP file. My natural instinct when I get a zip file is the same as everybody elses; I unzip and try to use the contents. I would have never thought to upload the zip file when asked for an install. Even the DNN screens don't say "select zip file to upload".

It looks like, thanks to you, I have the forums module installed.
