Hello!

I've researched this issue across several threads and couldn't come to a conclusive answer, so I figured I'd try and spell this out from my specific vantage point.

At the moment I've got a copy of DNN installed on a virtual machine almost ready to go. I've performing a "test" upgrade to 05.06.02 but am prevented from accessing the site. I get a screen that says

"Domain Name Does Not Exist In The Database

DotNetNuke supports multiple portals from a single database/codebase. It accomplishes this by converting the URL of the client browser Request to a valid PortalID in the Portals database table. The following steps describe the process: " etc. etc. etc.

I've tried adding my own entries to the PortalAlias table with HTTPAlias values such as local host, the IP address on this machine, and the server name. I can add these records into the PortalAlias table, but they don't seem to have any noticeable effect. I still get the error above when trying to navigate to the site.

Should I be modifying the Portals table, too?

Maybe I'm overcomplicating things...

Thanks in advance!
Justin

After you modify the PortalAlias table either reset IIS or modify your web.config to recycle the website so that the cache is cleared and the new aliases load up.

Excellent, thank you. Everything appears to have upgraded correctly. As it stands, I have a "default" DNN framework. Am I missing something on how content and images are stored within DNN? I wrongly assumed that since I copied the site files over verbatim (and DB), I would get the exact same skinned, populated site that I had on my previous server.

Thanks in advance!
