Hi All,

I am in need of some advise, I would like to provide my site in 3 other different languages to the default (GB).  Can you tell me how to achieve this?  I would like my users to be able to select the language when accessing the site.

Thanks in advance.

Simon

This can easily be done with the new localization features in DotNetNuke 5.5 (I would recommend starting with 5.6.2).

Here are the steps I would follow.

  1. Install DotNetNuke
  2. Setup your content for your default language
  3. From the Host/Host Settings page enable content localization
  4. From the Admin/Languages page add the two additional languages
  5. Enable Content Localization on the portal (from that admin/languages page)
  6. Edit the content for each of the languages, to provide the translated version.
  7. Mark each page/module for the languages as translated (from the page settings)
  8. Go to the admin/languages page and mark the additional languages as Published

The proper solution for sites in mutliple languages depends on your needs - whether you want to provide all content in all languages and how to organize content management. Besides Core Content Localization, there are powerful solutions for true multilingual content sites, like Apollo PageLocalization, EALO (ealo.codeplex.com) and DSLocalizator (dnn.tiendaboliviana.com).

PS: before enabling content localization for an existing site with content, make sure to perform a database backup, this option is NOT reversible!
