To all, thank you for your assistance:

I have a DNN Module project in Web Developer Express that was started with the Chris Hammond template.  Per the instructions in the tutorial, I installed the Debug version of the package into my Development website in the following location for development purposes:

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke\DesktopModules\FileUploader\

I would like to know why, when I open the project "FileUploader" directly in Web Dev Express and open the "View.ascx" file, the Ajax Control Toolkit items in my toolbox are disabled, grayed out?

But when I open the website:   http://localhost/DotNetNuke , and I open the "DesktopModules/FileUploader/View.ascx" file from within the website the Ajax Control Toolkit is available to me.  Why?

I would like to develop within the MODULE project, NOT the local website directly.   Do I have a reference missing somewhere?

Thank you.

All,

Well, once again, when you try a little harder you just might find the answer.  My problem was simply a .dll version referencing issue.  My WAP project for the FileUploader was targeting the 3.5 Framework and the Toolbox tab I had setup for the Ajax Control Toolkit was referencing the 4.0 Framework version of the Ajax Control Toolkit.

The reason it was working when I opened the WSP website project is because THAT ONE is targeting the 4.0 Framework version.

So moral of the story -- KEEP YOUR VERSIONING STRAIGHT IN ALL AREAS.

This is my development / LEARNING environment.  I simply added another Toolbox tab for the 3.5 version of the Ajax Toolkit and viola, All OKAY.  : )
