My web host is not updating DotNetNuke. We have beem on 5.2.2 for almost a year. Is there a way I can upgrade it through FTPing files to the server?

You can upload the new files minus the web.config (you don't want to overwrite and changes you have made) and have it run the install script, but if you do not have any other access to anything besides FTP, then I would recommend against it just in case something fails. This is not the definitive way to do it but it is possible.

I think you should ask your hosting provider for any help that they may be able to provide, whether it is giving full site access (Root access to website and SQL), or access to a control panel interface. That is what we give to our clients here at PowerDNN, you will have full administrative access as well as having the option for us to perform upgrades.
