iis 7.5 / windows server 2008 r2 / dnn 5.6.2

i have created a portal but would like to access it as a public iis website. i have created the website in iis but do i reference a file location or treat it as a redirect? if file location, which one? the portals directory does not have a default.aspx page.

well i figured out how to do this....

1. create portal with website alias

2. create iis website pointing to file location of base dnn install (portal 0) and using the base app pool

you only need one web site in IIS (usually with a dedicated application pool), pointing to the DNN install directory. Make sure, the account specified in IIS App Pool has been granted full file system permissions for the DNN install directory. You might also need to adjust both database connection strings in your web.config file, which need to point properly to the database location.
