I want to learn how to programe my own modules. I'm using dnn5.x. I'm fairly good at general asp.net programming with C# using MSSQL. Im more experienced using LINQ 2 SQL then programming SQL. Is this a drawback? 1What way would you recomend to start developing? It's hard to find beginners material that is not quite old. 2ive never worked with DNN installed on my own machine. I've just used a host that sets it up for me. This is a drawback right? The reason is that I have failed to I install it. Maybe I should properly learn this first to develop my own modules? 3 Should I brush up my SQL skills? Or can i rely on LINQ2SQL?

I suggest using "DotNetNuke 5 Cookbook" from Packt, it is the most up2date source of information. Michael Washington has a number of online tutorials using Linq2SQL, see dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com. To install DNN locally, I suggest using Microsoft web platform installer, you may download from www.microsoft.com/web. Which OS are you using locally?

The book you recomended uses VB as the code i use C#. Is the DNN Starter Kit available in C# as well? I assume that the book only covers VB.
