Hi Everyone,

Apologies if this is in the incorrect forum... was not sure where to ask.

Does anyone know of a module that will allow me to run an SQL query, much like the DNN Reports module, but will then allow me to schedule the report and email it out? I've had a look around and can't find anything that will run reports AND email them out.

Any pointers appreciated.

I'm unaware of an existing module that does this, but you didn't mention what information you're trying to access, so it's difficult to answer. There are a few module building helper such as XMod, OpenWebStudio or even IndooGrid (I'm fairly sure it does scheduled jobs) that could help you here.

Is there a problem using SSRS for this task?

Hi There,

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Basically I want a module that will allow me to run SQL queries on the DNN databases (roles, users, and other custom tables) and formulate the results into an email to send to our people.

For example, I want to send out a report every week of members that have expired the previous week. A simple SQL statement will pull together the information from the various tables for me.. but I then want the output emailed out.

I have the reports setup at the moment using the DNN reports module, but that relies on our administration team remembering and then going online to get the report.

With regard to SSRS. We are using a PowerDNN Hosting plan which does not include SSRS.

Hello Mr Rabbit

For this type of thing, I use Onyakteck's Axon product.

It is a powerful email tool that can mail your roles, but also other sql results.  It can allow opt in etc if you need it and it provides read tracking also.

However, for your case, it has a great feature that I use regularly.  You can create "INSERTS" into a body of an email.

These inserts can use tokens from the particular record, for for example, you could send am email to all customers including just their orders.  IOW, it will run an sproc for you for every recipient and include the results.

In your case, you do not need to personalise it, but  you can write your sproc and simple include the results in the body of the email, add a little friendly text and click the schedule settings.  I use it to send out an email once a week and also daily.
