Thanks for reading. The modules dropdown in the page conterol  panel is empty. There are no module names in there anymore so I cannot add a new module to a page. that is the symptom, here are the related details.

1. this site was upgraded from DNN 4.8.0 to 5.6.2 a week or so ago. This might be the first time it was noticed since then. The modules list was stocked and usable before the upgrade. The upgrade went fine.

2. I attempted to fix this by logging in as host and edited a module definition. (say, for the announcements module - I did many of the modules) It was not set as a premium module, however the name of the portal was not in either the unassigned or the assigned lists. I learned that if I click the green right arrow inbetween the two listboxes, the name of my portal would appear in the left listbox. The Unassigned list. (previously the list box was empty). Then I would click the red double-arrow whch would make the portal name leave the unassigend list and enter the assigned list. I would then save the module definition settings at the bottom. And this would make the module available in the Modules drop-down list in the page control panel.

3. Having learned this technique, I performed these actions to another 15 modules. They were all going into the modules drop-down nicely,  then one time I hit the double red left arrow on just one of the module definitions - and saved and ALL of the modules disappeared from the modules dropdown list again.

This is all I know so far. I don't really know why all my module definitions disappeared in the first place and I don't think they should have disappeared again based on what I did. And obviously, I'd like to bring them all back.

Thanks for your help - whatever you can do. - Mark
